![]() Mark StoverAdult ClinicianMark Stover shares his passion for people and building community through pursuing the highest levels of artistry in choral music. Since September 2018, he has served as associate director of choirs at the University of Michigan where he conducts the Men’s Glee Club and the University Choir, teaches conducting, and serves as conductor of the Michigan Youth Chamber Singers.
Stover came to Ann Arbor from Northfield, Minnesota, home of Saint Olaf College, where he served on the music faculty as conductor of the St. Olaf Chapel Choir (SATB) and Viking Chorus (TTBB) while teaching conducting and a new course he designed titled, Music and Social Justice. Both of these choirs have regularly appeared in the annual St. Olaf Christmas Festival, a tradition held for over a century and regarded around the world as one of the great music festivals of the season. Stover led the Chapel Choir, Viking Chorus, and the Festival Mass Choir of over 400 voices in the St. Olaf Christmas Festival presented at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis at the 2017 National Convention of the American Choral Conductors Association (ACDA). From 2018 through 2022, he conducted the Together In Hope Choir holding the role as artistic director for the Together In Hope Project. This work has led to performances throughout Rome, including opening the 17th Annual International Festival of Sacred Music and Art at the Papal Basilica St. Paul Outside the Walls. In July of 2022, Stover led the Together In Hope Choir and Trondheim Solistene in the world premiere of The Stranger (composed by Kim André Arnesen to raise global awareness about refugees and displaced persons) at the Trondheim International Olavsfest, the largest annual cultural event in Norway. He conducted the U.S. premiere in St. Paul, MN at the Ordway Center for the Performing Arts in October of 2022. Additionally, Stover served for multiple seasons as the artistic director of Magnum Chorum, a semi-professional choral ensemble of over 60 voices based in Minneapolis-St. Paul. In April 2022 with the Men's Glee Club, Stover led the ensemble in the world premiere of Tesfa Wondemagegnehu's To Repair as a part of a full concert performance in Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City. On the heels of the premiere last spring, the Glee Club was invited to present the work and an accompanying lecture at the 2023 American Choral Conductors Association National Conference in Cincinnati, OH in February. Mark Stover holds degrees from St. Olaf College and Luther Seminary where he studied conducting and choral repertoire under the mentorship of Dr. Anton Armstrong and Dr. Paul Westermeyer. In addition to his professorial role at the University of Michigan, he is also pursuing the Doctorate of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting at Michigan State University, studying with Dr. David Rayl, Dr. Sandra Snow and Dr. Jonathan Reed. ![]() Kevin PadworskiInstrumental ClinicianKevin T. Padworski serves as the Director of Voces Aureas at the University of
Denver Lamont School of Music, Artistic Director of The Colorado Chorale, Chancel Choir Director at Augustana Lutheran Church, and Director of Vocal Music at Colorado Academy. Padworski performs extensively, and has been the recipient of numerous honors and awards declaring mastery in multiple disciplines: conducting, voice, saxophone, and keyboards. Professional appearances include the Aspen Music Festival, Colorado Repertory Singers, Colorado Choral Arts Society, Colorado Symphony, Colorado Symphony Chorus, Cincinnati Youth Choir, Dallas Symphony, DCINY Concerts Orchestra, Mid-America Concert Productions, Denver Brass, Evans Choir, Jubilate Deo Chorale and Orchestra, Lamont Symphony Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic Orchestra, New England Wind Ensemble, Opera Colorado, Stratus Chamber Orchestra, Bravo! Vail Music Festival, American Baptist Churches USA, and numerous collaborative and solo performances. Padworski holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in conducting and literature from the University of Colorado, and the master and bachelor of music degrees in conducting and music education from the University of Denver and Eastern University. He is an active composer and writes for soloists, instrumental, and choral ensembles with a particular interest in creating robust and engaging orchestrations and accompaniments. Padworski's music has been performed at local, state, regional, and national ACDA conferences, receiving premieres in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York City and the Votivkirke in Vienna, and his commissions have received accolades including recognition from Americans for the Arts. Campbell started participating in music in church as a preschooler, and has never stopped. He has been a choir member, handbell ringer, percussionist, pianist, and organist; but most of the time he has been director and/or coordinator of the music makers. He holds degrees from Samford University, the University of Illinois, and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. After 25 years teaching in colleges, universities, and divinity schools, John went to Fifth Avenue Baptist Church in Huntington, WV, as full-time Minister of Music, 2013-2020; then during the pandemic to Enslow Park Presbyterian Church, Huntington, as Director of Music and Organist; and since November 2022 has served Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, as Minister for Music and Worship. John has been president-elect and president for FABM, and is no stranger to conference regulars, having planned and led worship in recent years.

Sara Clarke Turpin serves as Senior Pastor at Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, where she previously served as Associate Pastor for Spiritual Formation. She is a graduate of Georgetown College and received her M.Div. from the Baptist Seminary of Kentucky. Sara loves engaging people of all ages in the stories of God and involving all in the mission of the church to share the love of Jesus. Sara also loves spending time with her husband, Neal, and their two young children, as well as playing the flute and occasionally even running a half marathon.
![]() Joseph MartinPiano ClinicianJoseph Martin, a native of North Carolina, earned his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. Subsequently he earned a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance at the University of Texas, Austin. Joseph taught for five years in the Piano Pedagogy Department of the University of Texas. While at Furman University, he was accompanist for choral director and composer Milburn Price and, inspired by his teaching, Martin began to compose. He is a member of the staff of Shawnee Press, Inc. and the Hal Leonard Corporation as Director of Sacred Publications, with responsibilities for overseeing the editorial and creative direction of the company and also coordinating the recording and production aspects of future sacred publishing efforts.
His first solo piano recording, American Tapestry, was nominated for a Dove Award. This album, along with his other recordings (Songs of the Journey, Celtic Tapestry, A Christmas Tapestry, and A Symphony of Carols) has been enormously popular in the sacred and secular markets. He has recorded for Yamaha's Disklavier series and has composed hundreds of commissioned works. His composition "Pieta" was honored with an award from the John Ness Beck Foundation. Recognized throughout the United States for his many choral compositions, both sacred and secular, Joseph's music is published by numerous publishing houses. Over two thousand compositions are currently in print and the list continues to grow. Joseph lives in Austin, Texas with his wife Sue. ![]() Katie HoutsChildren/Youth ClinicianKatie Houts is a music educator, church musician, and composer who specializes in children's choirs and developing voices. As the sacred choral & curriculum editor for Choristers Guild, Katie curates and edits their comprehensive catalog of anthems, musicals, and resources for singers of all ages. She directs the 80-voice IGNITE choir (ages 5-12), which serves as the training program for Rise Up Children's Choir, Utah's premiere contemporary vocal performance group for youth; she also serves as one of RUCC's in-house arrangers and accompanists. Katie teaches elementary music and middle school choir at Wasatch Charter School (Salt Lake City). She is a frequent presenter at sacred music conferences throughout the country and has served ELCA, UCC, and UMC congregations as music director, worship curator, children’s choir director, and organist. Katie is also a sought-after professional accompanist and studio musician.
