Good to Know!
On this page, you can find all sorts of random information that’s just, well, good to know!
Secret Pals- Every youth will be asked to write their name down on a slip of paper while checking in at the conference, which we will then use to draw "secret pals" early in the week. Youth are encouraged to give their secret pal a small gift each day during the week, or a few times throughout the week. Gifts need not and should not be expensive (think: Dollar Store!). Examples of appropriate gifts are candy, small squirt guns (for outdoor use!), silly putty, or fun and goofy toys. An arts and crafts room is also available throughout the week should you choose to make your secret pal a gift, or even write them a note. There is not a good place to purchase these items on the conference grounds, so please bring some gifts with you. You'll have plenty of free time Wednesday afternoon to purchase more gifts in town once you get to know your pal a bit better, should you choose to do so. Secret pals are revealed Friday night as part of our all night event.
Handbells & Orchestra – Two of the conference wide workshops that are available to youth are handbells and orchestra. So, if you’re interested, you can participate! Handbells have their concert on Thursday night, and Orchestra in the afternoon on Friday. If you want to participate in Orchestra, you’ll want to bring your own instrument, as the conference only provides a few large percussion instruments.
Green Lake Youth Musicians’ Olympics (GLYMO) – A long-standing tradition of the youth conference that we are working to give new life and our own very unique stamp. Every day will have its own team based event, but the teams switch every day and every event has its own prize! The games are competitive, but have an emphasis on team building, creativity and fun. Get your game face on!
Friday Night Live – This just-for-youth classic immediately follows the Closing Celebration and room clean-up. Auditions will be held Thursday afternoon, so you’ve got time to get your act together with friends! Everything appropriate is appropriate and creativity is encouraged!
Friday Night Lock In – In addition to our other closing night activities (revealing of Secret Pals, final AfterGlo in Judson Tower, Communion on "the point," etc.) we will have a well-chaperoned all night lock in at Lone Tree, giving you more time to spend with friends before heading out Saturday morning.
